I like to call them guided stories with the kids because the word story is so much more familiar to them than the word visualization (simple). And, what kid doesn't love a story (fun)!

A simple heart rub meditation for kids helps increase feelings of self love and love for others. They can place their hand on their heart and gently massage in circles as their heart energy awakens and grows.

 

Then, they can use the loving energy in many ways.

  • sit with the loving feelings for as long as they want
  • fill their own heart and visualize it spilling out and filling their entire body from their toes to the top of their head
  • add an affirmation such as "I am love" or "I love myself" as they rub
  • remove their hand from their heart and with their palm facing away send loving feelings to others
  • try the group meditation below

You can spend any amount of time practicing the heart rub meditation with your kids. Incorporate it into your lesson plan when you want to spend a good chunk of time on it. And, use it as a filler when you find yourself with a couple extra minutes. Just three gentle circle massages paired with "I love myself" can still awaken powerful loving feelings.

The purpose of the heart rub meditation for kids is to grow feelings of self love and love for others. So, why not practice it as a group meditation this holiday season and spread some Christmas cheer among the kiddos in your classroom?

 

The group meditation begins with each child growing feelings of peace, love, and joy within their own hearts. Once those feelings are strong, they spill out and fill their entire body. The love of each child overflows so much, there is extra for sharing.

 

By holding hands, the kids create a friendship circle where they send all of these loving, peaceful feelings to everyone in the class, one by one. Once the circle is complete and everyone is filled with peace and love, you can allow time for sharing. I included some discussion questions for you along with the script.
